I spent the last couple of weeks in McMinnville working on my new live/work space, which includes an office, workstation, computer area and plenty of shelving. I'll post pics of it later. McMinnville is nice but I think I realize that it might be a little too small for myself. My mom's place is really really comfortable and when I visit it is a total retreat from Portland.

This is the second year that they (Mom and Jerry) have done a Christmas tree and since I was down there this year I helped in decorating the tree. It was more fun than I thought it would be. I have never decorated a tree before and I didnt want to do anything to commercial, so I focused on the free. I made the ornaments, topper, and "gifts" underneath all out of paint samples. There were some other ornaments made out of wood discards from my live/work project and mom already had lights and silver balls, so the tree was virtually free minus of course the tree itself.

It's easy for me to say why doesn't everyone make their own ornaments and disregard tradition as far as decoration goes because I never celebrated Christmas. I am very happy about that. But I know that my disregard of "baby jesus" tradition doesn't mean other don't desire it or that they are trying desperately to redefine it to be a part of something they feel they missed.

Decorating was fun, but I think it might be more fun decorating a tree on a random rainy April evening or a cool early summer night.
